Creative Source Coaching serves artists working in the creative and expressive process and especially in the performing arts. Many of my clients are actors, singers, or musicians who use the body and voice as a major part of their artistic expression. Others are writers, directors, composers, or choreographers whose work revolves around the creative process. Some may combine these two realms, creating and performing their own material. Whether my clients are successful or emerging artists, self-taught or conservatory trained, performing established material or improvising for a living, they all share a commitment to artistic excellence and want to deepen and expand their skills in working with the creative and expressive process. Below are some of the problems and concerns my clients come in with. Do any of these sound familiar? As an artist you feel creatively blocked. You’re either stuck in a state of overwhelm about a project or frustrated by how hit-or-miss the creative process is. You don’t know how to access your vision or tap into your creative flow. You are burned out, bored, or itching for new depth and direction in your work. Perhaps you’ve attained a certain level of success and mastery, but now, either due to overwork or a lack of creative stimulation, there’s no risk, no magic, and no creative juice left in you. Or, perhaps you’re ready to go to a new level in your artistic development but you don’t know where to start. You have perfect technique but no creative spark. You are well trained, well rehearsed, and technically gifted in your art form, but you have trouble relaxing, following your instincts, or exploring new approaches to material in rehearsal. It’s often a challenge for you to take creative risks or let yourself be spontaneous and vulnerable as a performing artist. As an actor your character development skills need work. Perhaps you’ve noticed or been told that certain habits keep showing up in your body or voice that are more you than your character. Or you don’t know how to find a certain character in your body. You want to be able to transform into other characters but your methods aren’t working. You’ve experienced unethical training that has negatively affected your artistic development. You may have sacrificed your instincts, lost touch with your identity as an artist or developed highly self-critical tendencies in the process. You want to form healthier habits and reclaim your artistic and creative voice but aren’t sure how. Are we a good match? If you see yourself in the following attributes, we are likely to have a successful experience working together.
If this sounds like you, you’re ready to learn about How I work.
