Creative Source Coaching offers many services to help you deepen and expand your artistic abilities no matter what stage of the journey you are on. Whether you are just starting (or are stuck in) the creative process, developing and honing your expressive skills and artistic identity, or about to perform on stage, on film, or in the recording studio, my services are here to assist and support you.
These services fall into the following three areas, each of which has unique benefits:
Individual Coaching:
My one-on-one coaching is designed to give you the most supportive and in-depth attention for your artistic development, no matter what kind of art you practice. Pairing your goals and pace with my unique process of witnessing and guidance, we work on whatever areas you choose to explore in the creative or performance process. Choice is central to my approach, and after an initial free consultation you can create your own focus and direction in a variety of areas including:
- Authentic expression and expansion in voice, movement, and embodiment
- Body-mind character development
- Awareness of patterns in movement, posture and energy
- Performance preparation and dealing with tension or anxiety
- Developing your presence as a performer
- Exploring or honing approaches to material
- Jumpstarting the creative process and developing new ideas
- Rekindling creative energy following burnout or boredom
- Developing artistic identity, autonomy, and direction

These one-hour sessions develop organically based on your desired outcomes and the circumstances of the day. My approach is awareness-based and body-centered, and I use intuition as well as vocal and movement assessment skills to see what is missing and help bring forth what wants to emerge more fully in the session. Please feel free to contact me to set up a consultation.
Coaching for Groups
Custom-tailored coaching is a valuable service I offer for artistic groups and collectives such as performance ensembles, music bands, vocal groups, theater companies, and casts or crews of film and television projects. My approach varies depending on whether your group works collaboratively or under the guidance of a director, but in either case this work helps the group to be at its best and to reach new depths of cohesion and performance. Our focus can be in any combination of the following areas:
- Aligning and infusing the group with a common creative vision and direction
- Developing new creative directions
- Producing creative material and getting “performance-ready” in less time
- Finding new sources of collective inspiration
- Increasing morale due to the creative and expressive process in group coaching
- Getting warmed up and grounded together so days are productive from the start
- Increasing time-efficiency and productivity on set or in rehearsal. This is because my individual coaching and performance preparation for actors or players in the wings allows the director to focus on the scene or issue at hand.
Please feel free to contact me for more information or to set up a complimentary consultation.
Workshops and Classes
These services allow you to focus on specific areas of your artistic development in a group setting over a period of a few hours, days or weeks. Because my work is experiential, my classes and workshops provide an ideal path for learning via witnessing other artists—and witnessing yourself in their presence. These services offer an affordable alternative or supplement to individual coaching and can give you the tools and focus you need to make creative breakthroughs while allowing you to see what my work and approach are like.
My classes and workshops currently include the following offerings:
- Engaging the Artist Within: Exploring Authentic Expression in Artistic Development. This eight-week class blends elements of the Jungian-based practice of Authentic Movement, Barbara Dilley’s Contemplative Dance, body-centered voicework, and Buddhist principles of compassionate witnessing to help performing and non performing artists delve into new territory and explore the edges of their expressive “comfort zones” while cultivating courage, curiosity, and friendliness toward the emerging artist in each of us.
- Artistic Autonomy & Attunement. This body-centered six-week class or two-day workshop explores the subtle connection and balance between finding and holding your own center as an artist and actively sensing, connecting, and “dancing with” one or more other artists in a group setting such as a performance, rehearsal space, or improvisation.
- Deep Embodiment: Cutting-edge Somatic Character Work. This series of classes or workshop intensives gives actors and singers the opportunity to experience the foundation of characters in their very blood and bones. Using approaches adapted from Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen’s Body-Mind Centering, experiential anatomy, awareness tools and guided imagery, we will explore which movements and body systems (such as the fluids, muscles, and nervous system) make up your “home repertoire” and which ones you can develop greater access to for finding deeper roots of a character in your body.
- Creative Source Sanctuary: Pre-Performance Rituals and Self-care Practices. What makes for a great performance? Preparation is one key, and this four-week class or day-long workshop will get you started by giving you a smorgasbord of the best practices for self-care designed especially for the performing artist. Using imagery, movement, guided relaxation exercises, breathing, vocalization, mindfulness techniques and favorite-tips-and-tricks checklists, each participant will develop his or her own ritual and/or protocol to help calm mental chatter, set intention, relax the body and open the sensory channels so that all systems are go when your cue arrives.
- Performance Presence: The Three Keys to Transcendent Performance. This two-day workshop or six-week class will help you experience what brings your presence dynamically to life for an audience (even when the only audience is a camera crew), and will give you the foundation for cultivating this powerful gift through a step-by-step process that begins in the body.
- Jumpstarting Your Creative Project with the Creative Process Cycle. One of the worst feelings for any artist is the sense of being creatively blocked. This class and workshop comes in various lengths ranging from two days to a yearlong process, and uses a cycle I developed that takes inspiration from the cycle of seasons and the Native American Medicine Wheel. With my guidance through this cycle, participants will get creatively unstuck by exploring how body-centered impulses lead into the organic expressive process that is always available to us. They will also experience the role of non-judgmental witnessing and reflection in making space for the creative process to unfold.
- Cultivating Creativity: Using the Physical Voice to Develop the Metaphorical Voice. The concept of “finding your voice” has been used for decades as a metaphor for awakening to identity and empowerment in self-expression whether by activists, laypeople, or artists. In this workshop, we will bring that metaphor to life by using the creative exploration of the physical voice as a literal barometer and tool for opening and expanding one’s sense of artistic and personal freedom, identity, and direction. Participants will use journaling and reflective process circles or pairs to measure their development.
- Ritual, Spirit, Mystery, and Nature’s Cycles in the Creative Process. At its best, creativity has always involved a balance between receptive and dynamic processes in coming to fruition. This two-day workshop or year-long class explores the many ways that we can bring the creative process to life via personal and collective ritual, spiritual practices, opening to mystery, and witnessing how nature’s cycles support and mirror the creative process. In bringing our creative projects to this group and letting them mingle with these four processes, we can begin to let the universal masculine and feminine energies inherent to these practices give new life and perspective to our own creativity. This group requires a free initial consultation before joining.
Please contact me for more information or to sign up for the next round of workshops or classes available in Brooklyn or Manhattan. I am also available to present workshops in select cities including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, Boulder, CO and Atlanta.
In all types of services, I aim to be a supportive witness and guide, to provide both challenging and fun experiences, and to enable you to develop your most powerful and authentic artistic gifts.
